Our manufacturing secrets: silk from Lyon, eco-responsibility and made in France.

At Petitjean Paris, our silk accessories are printed and made in the Lyon region. We have chosen to manufacture our products 100% in France because we are passionate about French textile know-how and we wanted to participate in its development.
The know-how of the Lyonnais silk manufacturers is also the guarantee of high quality products and a rich heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation for several centuries. Here are the manufacturing secrets of our silk scarves and accessories Made in France.

Lyon silk: an ancestral tradition

For centuries, Lyon's weavers have worked alongside the region's textile finishers to create dyed fabrics, jacquards, brocades and more recently printed silks.

We work with a prestigious textile finishing workshop established in the Lyon region for over a hundred years and specializing in silk. In the middle of the Loire countryside, this workshop prints our designs on large panels of silk, with high-precision equipment that allows us to render the smallest detail of our prints. Labelled as a Living Heritage Company (EPV), it is one of the rare French companies to obtain this recognition of excellent craft and industrial know-how.

An eco-friendly production

It is important to us to be precise in the printing of our designs, but it is even more important to guarantee the quality of the inks used in this printing because our accessories will be in contact with your skin for most of their life. Nestled in your neck, tied to your wrist, our accessories should imperatively be 100% healthy.

A pioneer in an industry known for its pollution - dyeing - our textile finisher has made respect for the environment a priority for years. Their efforts have been rewarded, as in 2015 they obtained the ISO 14001 standard - a standard that frames the environmental performance of a workshop (or factory), rarely granted in the dyeing industry.

In addition, our textile finishing workshop only works with suppliers who certify their inks and dyes. This effort has earned them the OEKOTEX label: a label that guarantees the complete absence of harmful substances in a textile product, both for people and for the environment - and this throughout the production chain, from finishing to fixing and printing the patterns.

A French manufacture

Our silk pieces are not only printed in Lyon, but also made in the Lyon region.

After printing our designs on large silk panels, our scarves, bracelets and lavallines are rewound on a large tube for their next stop: the atelier de façon. Also located in the Lyon region, our workshop is a small workshop in the silk basin: a network of French silk manufacturers who have been working together for decades, each specializing in a specific stage of production. It is here that our accessories are "shaped": the seamstresses roll the edges of our scarves and mount our lavallines and bracelets, assemble them and sew them.

Then comes the stage of quality control, before our pieces are carefully shipped in their respective boxes and cases. Here again, we have chosen to use French manufacturing. The cards we enclose with your orders are printed in Paris, on recycled paper, and our boxes of scarves with a cloudy feel are made in a Parisian cardboard factory. The only exception is the small boxes of our silk bracelets which are made in Belgium.
