At Petitjean Paris, our silk accessories are printed and manufactured in the Lyon region. We chose 100% French manufacturing because we are passionate about French textile expertise and wanted to help promote it.
The expertise of Lyon’s silk manufacturers also guarantees high-quality products and a rich heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation for several centuries. Here are the manufacturing secrets behind our Made in France silk scarves and accessories.
Lyon silk: an age-old tradition
For centuries, Lyon's artisan weavers have worked alongside the region's textile finishers to create dyed fabrics, jacquards, brocades, and, more recently, printed silks.
We work with a prestigious textile finishing workshop that has been based in the Lyon region for over a century and specializes in silk. Located in the heart of the Loire countryside, this workshop prints our designs on large silk panels using high-precision tools that allow us to reproduce every detail of our prints. Certified as an "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (EPV—Living Heritage Company), it is one of the few French companies to have earned this recognition for excellence in artisanal and industrial expertise.

Environmentally responsible production
It is important for us to ensure precision in the printing of our designs, but it is even more important to guarantee the quality of the inks used in the printing process, because our accessories will be in contact with your skin for most of their lifespan. Whether worn around your neck or tied to your wrist, our accessories must be 100% safe.
As a pioneer in an industry known for its environmental impact—dyeing—our textile finisher has made environmental responsibility a priority for years. Their efforts were recognized in 2015 when they obtained ISO 14001 certification—a standard that evaluates a facility’s environmental performance, which is rarely awarded in the dyeing industry.
Furthermore, our textile finishing workshop works exclusively with suppliers who certify their inks and dyes. This commitment has earned them the OEKO-TEX® label: a certification that guarantees the complete absence of harmful substances in a textile product, for both humans and the environment—and this applies throughout the entire production chain, from preparation to fixation, including the printing of designs.

French manufacturing
Our silk items are not only printed in Lyon, but also manufactured in the Lyon region.
After our designs are printed on large silk panels, our scarves, bracelets, and lavallière ties are rolled onto a large tube for their next stop: the finishing workshop. Also located in the Lyon region, our finishing workshop is a small workshop in the silk basin—a network of French manufacturers who have been working with silk for decades in collaboration, each specializing in a specific manufacturing step. This is where our accessories are "shaped": the seamstresses roll the edges of our scarves and assemble our lavallières and bracelets, putting them together and sewing them.
Next comes the quality control stage, before our items are carefully packed in their respective boxes and cases. Here too, we have chosen to source our materials from France. The cards included with your orders are printed in Paris on recycled paper, and our matte-finish square boxes are made in a Parisian cardboard factory. The only exception is the small boxes for our silk bracelets, which are manufactured in Belgium.
