The silk scarf is a symbol of French craftsmanship and the French art de vivre. At Petitjean Paris, the patterns on our silk scarves also tell stories of French landscapes and culture. Today, we reveal the Parisian, Provençal, and Jura inspirations behind our poetic designs.
The Tradition of Lyon Silk
Before taking you on a journey through France, let’s make a quick stop in Lyon, the capital of French silk. Lyon silk, with its unique savoir-faire, is one of the oldest crafts. Silk squares, or silk scarves, are an integral part of this heritage and the artisanal legacy of French fashion. Silk squares are carefully printed and crafted, the result of a savoir-faire passed down through generations for over 400 years. Lyon silk makers have perfected silk weaving and printing techniques to create products of exceptional quality. Lyon silks were once considered the most luxurious in the world and have adorned the greatest figures in history since Louis XIV.

The Origins of the House: The Jura
The Jura, a region in eastern France, is famous for its rugged landscapes, dotted with lakes and waterfalls. Our first signature collection, Les Jurassiennes, pays tribute to its fir forests and wildlife. In particular, our Pas de Deux tells the story of a fox ballet in the Jura forest.

Our Provençal Tales
Our silk scarves also evoke our founder’s childhood memories of Provence. Fig trees, washerwomen, pink flamingos, sunrises, and sunsets over lavender fields are endless sources of inspiration for our founder, who has dedicated several silk scarves to them. These designs transport you to magical places and reveal a side of Provence you’ve never seen before.

Our Parisian Tales
After Provence, the City of Lights: Paris. Our capital, which has been home to our designer for several years, is also a major source of inspiration for several collections. As the capital of fashion and elegance, with its haute couture houses and world-renowned expertise, Paris has notably inspired our Montmartre Tuileries . Our Parisian motifs depict the Lapin Agile cabaret, the Maison Rose in Montmartre, and the Tuileries with its orange trees. These motifs illustrate the city’s wonders with a bucolic and poetic twist.
